OUR HISTORY
Frankston Music Community Network grew from the Frankston Music Festival.
The Frankston Music Festival was an annual festival which started in 2017 and went for four years until 2020, with events in 2021 being cancelled due to the global pandemic. The aim of the Frankston Music Festival was to connect great venues and loyal fans over one weekend in April and showcase Frankston's diverse and vibrant local music scene.
Frankston has long been a live music destination for Melbournian's. Frankston is nationally recognised as a music city.
The Proudly Frankston Campaign Inc. (PFC) was the incubator of several positive initiatives including:
Frankston Wine & Food Society
Long Lazy Lunches
Committee for Greater Frankston
Following four years of lobbying from a small group wanting a community-based Frankston Music Festival, in December 2016 the Committee of PFC decided to back the concept and thus initiated the Frankston Music Festival. This annual event would:
Showcase Frankston's existing diverse and vibrant music scene with great live music venues and many loyal fans
Be on the Australian festival calendar in Autumn - outside the peak summer season
Be an indoors festival, thus weather proof
Connect with our community organisations with support from Council / Government and commercial sectors
Embrace live music in participating venues across Greater Frankston
Be held on the last weekend in April
Frankston Music Community Network aims to continue to establish connections between great local venues and loyal fans and promote the local music scene and talented musicians within our community.
